Viridian Forest is a forest which lies between Viridian City and Pewter City in the middle of Route 2 with both the north and south entrances of Viridian Forest open to the route. The deep and sprawling forest is said to be a natural maze as many people get lost inside. The trees in the forest are so thick that little light gets in, and because of this the forest is full of Bug- and Flying-type Pokémon that attract Bug Catchers and other Trainers.

He looked at the large forest with a deadpan expression, not really caring. Inside, however, he was massively surprised, with a childish stare of curiosity in his eyes, expecting a large forest but not one so grandly huge.
'Wow, Kona-Mi.' Ralts said to him teasingly, using her nickname for him. 'I knew you were good at bottling up your emotions, but not that good.' Mikona rolled his eyes at his partner, still amazed at the forest. 'It's best I get exploring... Let's go!'
And so Mikona went, onwards into the lush Viridian Forest.

Glancing around as he went around the green forest, Mikona saw quite a few Bug pokemon. Noting that these are the lower level parts of the woods, Mikona nodded as he knew that bug-type moves were only available much later.
The forest was filled with a pregnant silence, with only the shuffling of the trees and the grass, containing pokemon moving about. He then heard footsteps, and turned his head slowly to the right as he saw a Bug Catcher approaching him.
"I'm Billy! Since I like raising my bug types, I think we should battle!"
Mikona nodded, these type of encounters were to be expected. The look-and-fight rule was followed for decades.
"Mikona. Let's battle."
He then sent a telepathic message to Ralts (Who was flirting up a nearby Male Pikachu) that it was time to battle. She responded and jumped in front of the silent boy, ready to rumble.

'That went somewhat well.' Mikona thought. He looked at Ralts, poisoned and a bit rustled up. 'Not really for me, though...' She said, coughing here and there. He nodded and looked for something to help; a shine appeared from a nearby grass patch. He walked over and picked it up, revealing an Antidote. 'Must have been dropped.' He thought. Using that and his potion, he revived Ralts back up to full health and went on.

Walking along, Mikona noticed some miniature webs hanging from this area. He treaded carefully when an Aridos jumped from a tree and aimed a String Shot at Ralts. Luckily, she dodged in time and got into battle position. 'A Spinarak...' He thought. 'Alright. Let's go.'

'A Spinarak, huh...' Mikona pulled out a amethyst colored encyclopedia of sorts from his bag labeled "Recorded Pokemon of Kanto and Johto: By Professor Oak", and moved to page 167.
'Spinarak, the String Spit Pokemon,' No lie there, 'It sets a trap by spinning a web with thin but strong silk.' He looked around; there were many webs indeed, waiting to catch a Pidgey or Ledyba. 'It waits motionlessly for prey to arrive.'
'Which would be us...' Ralts said. Her trainer simply nodded and pulled out Spinaraks pokeball. Pushing the button and throwing it, the spider appeared, a bit frazzled as to what happened.
Mikona looked at it for a bit. 'What to name it...' He thought. 'Kumo, maybe.'
The Spinarak registered the name into her's head and then proceeded to ask the other pokemon what happened. Finding out that she was caught, she accepted it and thought it best to follow the human. She never really did have any friends.
'Hey Mikona!' Ralts mentally yelled. 'Why don't I have a nickname?'
He sighed and and spoke to her. 'Because you never asked for one.'
'Then call me Kagami!' She replied. 'We're pretty much twins, anyways.'
'I guess. Also, is Kumo male or female?' 'Female.' 'Alright. Lets go.' Ralts in front of him and Spinarak on his shoulder, he walked on till he found the exit. Sighing in relief that he was out of the forest, he went out and into the nearby town that was there. [Exit to Route 2]

Mikona walked along his previous path in the forest, wondering if any other trainers were trying to challenge the pewter gym leader right now. Along the way, a group of Pokemon appeared, all trying to take the trainer out. Kumo pulled Mikona away from the landing point quickly with a String Shot, the battle commencing.

He looked around, six pokemon retreating into the woods, and in return leaving an unconscious Ralts and an exhausted Spinarak. His friends... Both downed, because of his own needs. Shot by guilt, Mikona picked the both of them up and sprinted out of the forest, hoping he at least got to the PokeCenter in time.
