Route Four


Route 4 is a short path in north Kanto leading between Mt. Moon and Cerulean City.
The official western terminus of Route 4 is at Route 3 south of Mt. Moon's western entrance, the western terminus is regarded by most to be Mt. Moon's eastern entrance.

Satoko's Journey
I walked towards Route 4...grass as far as the eye can see.

"Great, looks like we're going to have to battle sometime, Riolu."

Riolu looked back at me with his hands up as if he's ready for a battle.

"Heh heh, you're right. We won't be trainers if we willing to battle."

Suddenly, a wild Rattata leapt out of the grass and attacked Satoko and Riolu!

*rattatta cry*
Satoko Saiki: 0_0 Shiny!!! Go! Riolu!
Satoko Saiki sent out Riolu!

I looked frantically inside my backpack. Do I have a pokeball? I didn't have time to restock while in Vermillion City or Cerulean. Man! My first battle's with a shiny Pokemon and I can't catch it! Wait, what's that?

I reach over and pull out a pokeball. Fushi must've sneaked this into my backpack!

Satoko Saiki: Ok, let's go! Vacuum Wave! Now, Riolu, don't kill it!
Riolu used Vacuum Wave!
It's super effective!
The foe's Rattata lost 63% of its health!
Silver Uchiha: *rattata cry*

The foe's Rattata used Tackle!
Riolu lost 7 HP! (35% of its health)

Satoko Saiki: hm...
Satoko Saiki: Oh gosh...
Silver Uchiha: 37% left
The rattata looks a little mad from the hit*
Satoko Saiki: Here goes nothing
Satoko Saiki: Go! Pokeball!
*a red beam of light catch and brings it in the pokeball closes hits the ground and begins to wiggle*

C'mon...work...

*the ball wiggles more then stops and the center glows red and makes a sound
Satoko Saiki: Woohoo! I got a Rattata! And it's shiny!

With a new pokemon, I ran back to Cerulean City's Pokemon Center.

"Let's head back, Riolu. You did great."

[exit to Cerulean City]

Back on Route 4, I was fired up. I had Riolu and my new Rattata all raring to go take on the world!

And I took 2 steps and then...

"Hey, you! Let's battle!" said a Lass staring at me. She had a Paras on her shoulder and the two of them glared me down. Was this the look-and-fight rule? It's very hard to say no to.

"Uh...ok! Let's battle guys!"

Riolu and Rattata, with a fire burning in their eyes, stood ready for battle.

"Go! Rattata!"

Satoko sent out a Rattata.
Crissy sent out a Paras.

"Use Focus Energy!" and Rattata got pumped up!
Foe Paras used scratch! Rattata lost 20% of its health.

"Alright, now use Tackle!"
Foe Paras lost 72% of its health.
Foe Paras used scratch! Rattata lost 20% of its health

"Now let's finish it with a Quick Attack!"
Foe Paras lost 28% of its health. Foe Paras fainted!
Rattata gained 23 EXP! (23/28)
Effect Spore activated! Rattata fell asleep!

"Oh no! Rattata switch out!"

Satoko switched Rattata out for Riolu
"Go Riolu!"

"Go Paras!"
Crissy sent out a Paras
"Use Stun Spore!"
Riolu was paralyzed! It may not be able to move!

Riolu was paralyzed.

"Oh no...this is bad..."

Riolu used Shadow Claw
Foe Paras lost 30% of its health.

Foe Paras used Scratch.
Riolu lost 25% of its health.

"Now, Riolu, use copycat!"
Riolu used copycat! Riolu used Scratch!
Foe Paras lost 20% of its health.

Foe Paras used scratch!
Riolu lost 25% of its health.

"Riolu, keep things up!"
Riolu used copycat! Riolu used Scratch!
Foe Paras lost 20% of its health.

Foe Paras used Poisonpowder. Riolu is already paralyzed!
"Go, Riolu! Shadow Claw!"
Riolu used Shadow Claw!
Foe Paras lost 30% of its health.

Satoko won the battle!
"Woohoo! I won" I exclaimed
*Satoko gained 500 pokedollars*

Upon walking away, I looked my Pokemon. "Man, our first Pokemon battle! That was SO intense!" I looked back at the two of them. Rattata was asleep and Riolu was paralyzed. "I think we're gonna need some rest."

[Quickcenter]

Upon walking back into Route 4, I saw a Dark Cave Opening. It read "Mt. Moon".

"Alright guys, are we ready?"

And we walked into the dark cave.
